The made-for-TV movie was Disney Channel’s wildly successful ” Camp Rock,” which starred Disney darlings the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato and drew an impressive audience of 10 million viewers. Audiences enjoyed the show, they just wanted more of the joy and antics of a typical summer camp experience.

As “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam” premieres Friday — and then takes over the network for the Labor Day weekend with singalongs, dance-alongs, cast interviews and encores airing through Monday night — consider the s’mores situation solved.

“Something had been gnawing at me about the first movie, even though it was a hit,” said Disney Channel Entertainment President Gary Marsh, who ordered the audience research about the original program. “I just felt like we could do it better and bolder. We had a first chance to make a second impression.”

A sequel was even easier to support considering Lovato and the Jonas Brothers, stars of regular Disney Channel shows and hugely successful recording artists, had grown even more popular in the teen and tween universe since the original launched. They’d be given more well-developed parts — Lovato’s character steps up as a leader, for instance, and Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas would have individual stories instead of being perpetually attached at the hip.

“It was so much bigger this time, with scenes that felt like there were 100 dancers, where the first movie had 12 or 15,” said Kevin Jonas, the oldest of the performing trio at 22. “My brothers and I didn’t have to do too much dancing, though, which is a good thing. Trust me.”

“Entertainment Tonight” has a new video of the models doing one of their first challenges, which is modeling swimwear while having words (not all of them pleasant) all over their bodies. In the midst of doing this, they receive a visit from a special guest — Disney Channel star Demi Lovato, who teaches them about her cause to stop bullying across the nation.

This season has yet to begin, but there already has been some controversy thanks to Ann, a contestant whose super-thin image became the talk of the country after a preview video hit the internet. In less than one week, though, we will finally learn which model has the potential to really come out on top as the winner.

-Singer, actress and “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam” star Demi Lovato, discussing co-star Frankie Jonas, the youngest of the four Jonas Brothers and the one often referred to as “Bonus Jonas.” Lovato compared Frankie to both Bieber and Timberlake on the red carpet of the “Camp Rock 2″ premiere in New York, and she had plenty of praise for the youngest Jonas sibling.

The nine-year-old Frankie may be young, and “Camp Rock 2″ represents his first major live action film (he provided voice work in “Ponyo” a few years back), but his goals are clear. “I would like to pursue my acting career and do a little music in the middle,” he told MTV News. “It’s my first live action [film] and to have my brothers with me is way more exciting because they make you feel more comfortable.”

And he’s even a little wise beyond his years. When asked about what advice his already-veteran older brothers gave him, he could recite the best bit he was given. “They’ve given me a great one that my dad gave to them and they passed on to me during the filming of ‘Camp Rock.’ It says, ‘Live like you’re at the bottom, even if you’re at the top,’ ” he explained. “Remember where you came from.”
