She’ll play a patient at Seattle Grace/Mercy West who will be treated by Alex (Justin Chambers) and Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) for possible schizophrenia.

It may be just kids’ television. But it’s not child’s play.

The annual Kids’ Choice Awards show on Nickelodeon, an ostensible celebration of the most popular children’s programming on television, has turned into a sandbox spat between two media giants vying for supremacy in the world of kids’ TV, the Walt Disney Co. and Viacom Inc., owner of Nickelodeon.

Nickelodeon this week informed programming rival Disney Channel that only a handful of its biggest stars would be permitted to walk the ceremonial orange carpet, pose for photos and grant interviews during “Nickelodeon’s 23rd Annual Kids’ Choice Awards” on Saturday at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion. Although individual nominees such as Selena Gomez and the Jonas Brothers can still participate, others have been elbowed out of the spotlight.

Actors who appear in Disney Channel shows nominated for best TV show, including the male lead of “Sonny With a Chance,” Sterling Knight, and “Wizards of Waverly Place” gal-pal Jennifer Stone, will have to file through the doorway with the thousands of other ordinary guests attending the event. Some Disney Channel performers from these same shows have been excluded altogether.

By contrast, at least 25 from Nickelodeon’s roster will get the full star treatment, including ensemble cast members from shows that didn’t garner a nod, such as “The Troop” and “True Jackson, VP.”

Joe Jonas apparently doesn’t have a high tolerance for girlfriend and fellow Disney star Demi Lovato’s taste in heavy metal.

Lovato, appearing on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Monday night, said she was tired after going to see a Maylene and the Sons of Disaster concert the previous night. When asked if boyfriend Joe shared her fondness for “hard-core Southern rock metal bands,” Lovato said, “No, we’ve talked about it. … I played it for him and he’s like, ‘Whoa that’s crazy.’ ”

While they might not agree on what kind of music to listen to (Jonas has admitted to being a big fan of indie rock band Vampire Weekend), not surprisingly, they haven’t even broached the subject of starting a family. “You know, it’s a little early to talk about that,” the 17-year-old told Kimmel.

All joking aside, the couple will appear on “American Idol” this week, where they will sing their duet, “Make a Wave,” from the new Disneynature flick “Oceans.” (Jonas appeared on “Idol” earlier this season as a guest judge.) “Yes we’re doing a duet. I’m afraid of Simon, so I’m good [about not being judged by him while on the show]. … The song’s coming out and it’s great,” she explained. “It’s not about being in love. It’s whatever you interpret it to be.”

Lovato currently stars on the Disney series “Sonny With a Chance,” but she got her big start in entertainment alongside a certain big purple dinosaur. “I was on the ‘Barney’ show for about two seasons. I don’t [keep in touch]. You realize he’s kind of a dinosaur,” she joked to Kimmel.

In a chat with Ryan Seacrest following their appearance on Wednesday night’s live results show, Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas admitted that even they were nervous before stepping onto the “American Idol” stage, though they said they were somewhat comforted by the adulation flowing from the audience.

“We were both — not that we were nervous — but we were looking at each other, and I said, ‘Are you nervous?’” Jonas told Seacrest. “She was like, ‘Yeah.’ And she was like, ‘Are you nervous?’ And I was like, ‘Um … no,’ trying to play it cool.”

Despite the cool act, Lovato said she could “totally tell” her beau Jonas was nervous.

We’re sure Didi Benami, who asked “Idol” mentor Miley Cyrus whether she too felt butterflies before going onstage, will be pleased to hear it.

Watch the below video, in which the couple also talk about how their relationship developed.

Demi Lovato was on Jimmy Kimmel last night, and boy, was she eager to discuss her new boyfriend, Joe Jonas. She also chatted with Kimmel over Demi versus De-mi (like Demi Moore). She said she’ll stick with Demi, but joked that she’s considering switching it to D.Lo (like J.Lo). She also told Kimmel that she was a little tired at work yesterday morning, because “she drove an hour out to Pomona to see (Christian rock band) Maylene and the Sons of Disaster.” When asked whether Joe was all for her heavy metal music, Demi said he’s not really into it, but he lets her play it.

Aw, what a good boyfriend! Kimmel joked that Demi and Joe both have great hair and said their child could be born into a Clairol commercial – Demi played along and joked, “it’s a been early for that!”

Apparently, mixed messages aren’t limited to the judges’ table. After last week’s elimination, Fox issued a press release announcing this week’s theme as Teen Idols. We were thrilled about it! Not only had the theme never been tried on “Idol” before, but we also had visions of awesome but forgotten boy-band classics like the Backstreet Boys’ “Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely.”

But by the weekend, the theme had changed to Billboard No. 1s, which is about as predictable as “Idol” themes get. Way to go, guys. (Fox did not respond to our request for comment on why the switch was made.)

Well, at least we still have some teen stars to make this week’s episode slightly more enticing. Miley Cyrus will guest mentor the Top 11 on Tuesday night, and on Wednesday, Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato will perform their hit, “Make a Wave,” from the “Idol” stage. [For the record: An earlier version of this post said Jonas and Lovato would be singing Cyrus' “When I Look at You.”]

We’ve talked Demi Lovato, Joe Jonas, and Making a Wave here before, directing you to the teaser of the video before it debuted in full earlier this week on Disney Channel and at Disney.com. Even before that, in February we brought you the video of the duo’s performance at Epcot. We realize that you can get enough of either Lovato or any Jonas, and so apparently does Disney, as they’ve released a behind-the-scenes featurette for “Make a Wave” that feature the two stars filming the video in California.

“Make A Wave” is going to be featured in the upcoming Oceans, a feature from Disneynature that will be released on April 22, 2010 (Earth Day!) You can visit the official site for more information.

We told you a while ago that Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato were shifting from friends to frenemies because Selena replaced Demi with Taylor Swift as Bestie #1. Well, things are about to get even more…awkward. Demi’s now showing off her latest arm candy — Taylor’s ex, Joe Jonas.

Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush asked Demi, “So you [and Joe] went from boyfriend-girlfriend to best friends?” Demi told him it was the other way around, and when directly asked if she was dating Joe, Demi confessed, “Umm, yeah he is my best friend and he is incredible.”

Even though Selena is dating Joe’s younger bro Nick Jonas, don’t expect paparazzi to catch these two Disney power couples on a double-date. After the romance news broke, Demi tweeted, “By the way… I would never lie to my fans. I love you all… and I’ve never been happier. :)” She may be smitten with Joe, but we bet she misses Selena.

Fans are rebelling against PUBLEMI (aka Joe Jonas + Demi Lovato + Publicity Stunt). All over the web, Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas fans buzz about the possibility that the relationship is nothing but a publicity scam…

Some fans pledged to stop following Jemi altogether, asserting that the two are creating an elaborate web of lies by pretending to date each other.

Controversy and rumors started to swirl when Jemi went on a double date with Jeffree Star, a trannie popstar, and longtime friend of Demi Lovato. Correct us if we’re wrong, but Joe Jonas hanging out with a gnarly trannie popstar like Jeffree Star just doesn’t fit. And fans agree with us. One fan asserted that Jeffree Star, the “queen” (pun intended) of PR could give Jemi good advice on how to pull a great publicity stunt. To be honest, Jeffree Star came out of nowhere, and has millions of views on his controversial videos.

Disney stars mysteriously come together whenever it’s convenient for their record sales or TV audiences, starting with Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake back in the day. Selena and Nick amped it up around the time Nick’s album came out, and now Joe and Demi have started dating before the release of Camp Rock II. Fans are catching on to the house of mouse’s games.

Do you support JEMI or will you boycott PUBLEMI?

Demi Lovato says Joe Jonas is her best friend and hinted she could be on tour with him later this year.

She was speaking on Ryan Seacrest’s Morning Show on KIIS FM during a phone in interview to promote the second season of her TV series Sonny With a Chance which premieres on March 14.

Seacrest asked the 17-year-old Disney star if Joe Jonas was a best friend or a buddy.

“He is my best friend. He has always been my best friend, he always will. He is amazing,” Demi replied.

Seacrest expressed surprise that her best friend wasn’t a girl to which Demi responded.

“I have got several best friends, I have got a lot.”

Later in the interview, Demi hinted that she maybe touring with Joe.

Seacrest asked her if she was perhaps working on her third album.

“Hopefully, you never know, I could go touring again. Maybe with some friends. You never know,” she hinted coyly.

Asked if she could be touring with her “best” friend, Lovato demurred, “It could be with any of my friends.”
